A Bunch of Stuff I Like

I really love this Eames Frame Serigraph print in that vintage orange and black combo from House Industries, and I found a bunch of other stuff I really like in their shop:
This Eames House building blocks set is perfect for your future architect kid!

These maple screen prints are really sharp looking, they remind me of my "Knock On Wood" that I had done with Gocco, think I should do a silkscreen version of it...
Every designer I know is inspired by Alexander Girard, and this book is a real gem! This book It is a limited edition of 1000, each copy is signed and numbered, I'm getting mine now!!!

Dog Fancy

They may look like cute plastic toy figures in picture, but they are actually handmade crystal dog figurines, created by Harry Allen for Gaia & Gino. Each one is made of 135 crystal cubes and all glued by hand. If I had free access to these crystal cubes (Gaia & Gino, are you reading this post?) I would make a squirrel figurine, shocking, isn't it?! photos: Gaia & Gino

Skull Crazed

I have a thing for skull, simply because we all have one and it celebrates life and death. We have a little skull collection at home (only human skulls, but none of them is real), these porcelain masterpieces from Nymphenburg are just asking for trouble, especially the simple white one with the gold chain (top pic) by Patrik Muff. Might have to treat myself one of those... Nymphenburg is a 260 year-old fine porcelain maker from Germany, each piece of its porcelain is a real piece of art. They have commissioned some of my design heroes like Hella Jungerius and Ted Muehling (seed vessel, above) to create contemporary pieces for the company. I love everything that I saw on their website but here are a couple of the pieces that caught my eye.

HOT

Cool Hunting is really THE go-to place for HOT products and I can't help but express my love for this InCase MacBook sleeve by KRINK x Arkitip. It's a boyish design (which I dig) and how can you not appreciate something so well-designed and with top-notch quality and details?!

My Perch! Purchase

Amy from Perch's booth was diagonally across from mine at Renegade and I could not resist to sneak out and bought this beautiful lantern with pinholes on both sides. I put a little tea light inside and the glow coming through the holes is just so beautiful, and it looks so good with my Hella Jongerius Ikea vase!

Harry Allen

Chad and I stopped by Harry Allen's studio for their ICFF party. I'm sure you are familiar with the piggy bank which they did for Areaware comes in and all kinds of fun colors. Here are some of their new products, my favorite things are the lamp made of molded paper, and the chandelier made of black cans.

RE-

That is the theme of Muji Design Competition, anything that you can rediscover and re-conceptualize. The grand prize winner is "Towel with Further Options", a towel that comes in a grid pattern that you have the option to use it as a bath mat, or down size into a bath mat, a floor cloth, or a dust cloth. I really want this day planner that won the Judges' Prize (I saw it on Cool Hunting yesterday and I loved it immediately). There are 2 pages for each day, the left page has a white clock that represents AM, and the opposite page has a gray clock for PM. It is an easy as pie chart of planning your daily schedules, and I love the clean look!images: muji

Great ad, iconic product

I found a magazine tear sandwiched inside Chad's book, on one side is this old Polaroid ad from the 70's. It's interesting to see that this ad was trying to create the same type of excitement as would an Apple computer ad, the iconic design of the product is the main focus. The tag line "If you wanted to invent the perfect Christmas present, this would be it" cleverly implies that the camera itself was a great invention. It is sad that the company that bought Polaroid several years ago has stopped producing its instant films last month, which means they will be completely out of stock by next year.

MyCuppa

A spoof on the Pantone Matching System line of products, MyCuppa Tea and Coffee by Suck UK have color palettes inside the mugs to guide you how much milk to add to your choice of beverage perfectly. For tea, the colors are called "Just Tea", "Builders Brew", "Classic British". and "Milky", instead of PMS numbers, how fun!images: suck uk
